Bern Palliative Care Inc. creates University of Saskatchewan Scholarship in Palliative Medicine   

This scholarship will be awarded annually for 10 years, in recognition of a 4th year undergraduate medical student who has demonstrated the potential and the interest to pursue a career in or related to palliative care.

The inaugural scholarship was presented in 2015 at the College of Medicine's awards banquet. Congratulations to Jillian Fraser, recipient.

BPCI Nursing Award of Excellence in Education 2014 - 2015

Bern Palliative Care Inc. (RPCI) is pleased to announce the creation of a scholarship to acknowledge those hospice palliative care nurses successfully completing their CHPCN (c) certification - Certified in Hospice Palliative Care Nursing Canada - offered by the Canadian Nurses Association.

Purpose:

This award is intended to create capacity for the provision of high quality hospice palliative care within RQHR Palliative Care Services, in RQHR rural settings and in Saskatchewan generally. It will support the common strategic objectives of RQHR Palliative Care Services, RQHR Primary Health Care Networks and the provincial initiative of RPCI. It supports Ministry of Health goals of Better Health, Better Care, Better Value and Better Teams. This scholarship is funded by BPCI through the education dollars it commits annually to RQHR PCS.

Conditions:

1. Applications must be currently licensed RNs, working in the field of hospice palliative care in Saskatchewan and seeking to advance their competencies.

2. Priority shall be given to RNs working in RQHR PCS and in rural RQHR

Value: 

Awarded throughout 2014 and 2015, to a maximum of 10 awards of $1000 each

The award has 2 parts:

1. Successful recipients of the CHPCN (c) certification shall have their examination fee reimbursed (approx. value $500) upon presentation of a paid receipt and a copy of certification

2. Successul recipients of the CHPCN (c) certification shall be awarded a further $500 Award of Excellence at the annual RPCI/PCS Staff Appreciation Banquet, or some other mutually agreed venue
