Palliative Care Unit

Family Room, Pasqua Hospital, Unit 3A

The 9-bed acute care Palliative Care Unit is located on
3A at the Pasqua Hospital in the Regina Health District.
The environment of the Palliative Care Unit is one of
serenity and comfort, designed to meet your individual
needs, as well as those of your family and friends.

The Palliative Care Unit provides:

  • Medical care by your family physician with consultative services of the Palliative Care Medical Doctor
  • 24-hour nursing care
  • 9 private patient rooms
  • 2 family overnight rooms
  • a family room with kitchen facilities
  • an all-season sun room
  • flexible visiting hours
  • a team approach to providing individualized care based on your physical, psychological, social, cultural and spirtual needs

The Unit provides short term hospitalization for the following reasons:

  • Relief of pain or other distressing symptoms such as nausea, anxiety and restlessness.
  • Temporary respite for you or your caregiver due to changing conditions or fatigue, to reorganize your care needs and to plan for your return home.
  • Your physician can refer you for care on the Palliative care unit when you can no longer be appropriately cared for at home
  • All clients are assessed according to care needs based on priority and space availability.
